Job Title:             Payroll Officer

Salary:                 £25,000 – £30,000 per annum (DOE)
Location:             Rotherham
Contract:             Full Time – Permanent
Verus Recruitment Partners are pleased to be supporting a Yorkshire-based accountancy practice in the recruitment of an experienced Payroll Officer to join a well-established accountancy firm, based in their Rotherham office.

This is an opportunity to join a recognised practice that is looking to strengthen its existing Payroll department by recruiting a confident, professional, and dedicated Payroll Administrator. The position would suit an individual who is looking to not just prepare the normal payroll functions but help to develop the service delivered and always be looking to see how they can improve.
The successful person will ideally have experience within a payroll bureau and be committed to meeting deadlines whilst managing client requests.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients’ payrolls.
  • Offering advice and information to clients with regard to SMP, SSP, and redundancy.
  • Assisting in the management of a varied client portfolio, from smaller limited companies to companies with large weekly/monthly payrolls.
  • Processing end-to-end payroll, including dealing with client queries.
  • Reviewing and checking all aspects of the payroll process.
  • Dealing with HMRC PAYE/NI regarding queries.
  • Successfully building and maintaining strong working relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Setting up clients’ payrolls and workplace pensions on software.

Skills and experience:

  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills and use of Office 365
  • 3-4 years of industry payroll experience OR
  • 1+ years of practice payroll experience in a bureau
  • Sage Payroll
  • IRIS
