Job Title:             Senior Counsellor/Psychotherapist (*Female)

Salary:                  £25,000 pro rata.

Hours:                  22.5 hours.

Benefits:             4% contribution pension scheme; health, wellbeing and CPD package; 25 days annual leave (pro rata) + Bank Holidays.

Contract:             Permanent.

 

Verus Recruitment is pleased to be supporting a fantastic Sheffield based charity in the recruitment of a Female Senior Counsellor/Psychotherapist.

You will become part of a small but vibrant team who are in the job to bring real and lasting change to both our direct beneficiaries and the national and international field.  Your input will ensure that our beneficiaries, who are struggling with mental health, receive tailored counselling to the highest standard of therapeutic intervention and your insight from delivering support will impact national developments.

 

My client is looking for a dynamic therapeutic practitioner with experience of working with trauma.

You will join their counselling service to support survivors of trafficking, helping them recover from the experiences of their past.  This role is suited to someone who has training, qualifications and experience of counselling.

 

You will need to show that you have a proven track record of providing this type of support to vulnerable people; are approachable and trustworthy and enjoy working both independently and as part of a team.

 

The Role:

 

Responsibilities – will be responsible for providing therapeutic counselling sessions for survivors of human trafficking with complex needs.  This includes:

 

  • Assessing referrals that come to the counselling team.
  • Assessing clients’ mental health and current needs.
  • Creating and providing individual plans for one to one support, including short, medium- and long-term individual counselling sessions, depending on need.
  • Maintaining up to date, accurate and organised records.
  • Liaising in a professional manner, where relevant, with other agencies such as referring bodies, police, solicitors, doctors etc where necessary.
  • Reporting any serious safeguarding concerns to the appropriate person.
  • Developing and delivering group counselling sessions where necessary, feasible and appropriate.
  • Where appropriate, write reports in relation to clients’ mental health and wellbeing for court, immigration or compensation applications.

 

About you:

 

Qualifications:

  • Level 5 or above qualification in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Clinical Psychology or equivalent qualified to at least diploma level.
  • Accredited with BACP, UKCP or equivalent professional therapeutic body.

 

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Extensive working knowledge of the impact of trauma on individuals.
  • An understanding of different modalities and an integrative approach to trauma therapies.
  • A strong understanding of ethics and professional boundaries.
  • At least 4 years’ post-qualification experience providing therapy to those experiencing trauma.
  • Experience managing dealing with risk and safeguarding issues.
  • Experience of collaboratively managing and developing therapeutic services.
