The word Verus is defined as: True; truthful; genuine; actual; real; just.
Where did the name come from? Verus was a well-known gladiator during the reigns of the Emperors Vespasian and Titus in the later part of the 1st century. His combat with Priscus was the highlight of the opening day of the games conducted by Titus to inaugurate the Flavian Amphitheatre (later the Colosseum) in AD 80 and recorded in a laudatory poem by Martial – the only detailed description of a gladiatorial fight that has survived to the present day. Both gladiators were declared victors of the combat, a unique outcome.
MEET THE TEAM
Jamie’s recruitment career started at the beginning of 2012 and since then he has worked across multiple sectors offering a broad variety of recruitment solutions. He has experience on the ground as a successful recruiter and also within branch management, contributing to the success of specialist recruitment practices in Sheffield. Jamie has a thorough and friendly approach to recruitment, which is a result of his lengthy career. Being a dedicated father of two young children, he understands the importance of choosing the right career which compliments your lifestyle.
With all this being said, the time has now come for him to utilise his past recruitment experience and build a business to be proud of. Using Jamie as your preferred recruitment partner, you will be guaranteed a truly consultative approach, giving clients and candidates the comfort of being supported by one of the most experienced recruiters in the region.
Sarah Briggs joins our family after fulfilling roles such as Partnership relationship officer for Museums Sheffield, and Business Development at The Sheffield Chamber of Commerce. Prior to this, she enjoyed a highly successful career in retail management, giving her a great insight into how important workplace culture is in building happy, successful teams. Sarah’s strength lies in building relationships, and she thoroughly enjoys getting to know people and finding out about their businesses, she’s a great listener who enjoys looking for opportunities to help.
Sarah is our green-fingered consultant and is slowly bringing the outdoors into the office.
Oliver brings an impressive 5 years of experience in a customer-centric environment to the Verus team, coupled with a fresh degree in International Business from Leeds University.
Eager and committed, Oliver is genuinely fascinated by people and the motivations behind their career paths. His infectious passion and personable nature make it a breeze for him to connect with others, and he approaches his work with both enthusiasm and thoroughness.
Outside of work, you’ll find Oliver enjoying his love for football during his spare time! Or walking his furry friend Walt the Patterdale.
Ella joins Verus with a year of recruitment experience. Her recruitment background has been quite a corporate one, so she is now really excited to change direction and join a close-knit team where she can get to know her clients and candidates on a much more personal level.
I mean, look at Ella’s background, she has spent many years working as a key worker and supporting people with challenging situations. So, rest assured, you will be in great hands when working with her. She nurtures her relationships from the second she meets you, so you will feel at home immediately.
She is thrilled to be joining Verus and helping people secure their futures!
She will be our resident chef too, as cooking is one of her favourite hobbies. And I’m sure there will be some canine visitors to our office, Izzy and Rizzo, her faithful furry friends.

Miriam started her working life within the health and well-being sector, supporting individuals across Sheffield with their physical and mental health. Miriam joined the recruitment world in 2014, where she has carried on pursuing her passion for helping others.
